Coronary Artery Disease Ischemic Heart Disease
how does Aspirin or any of NSAIDs affect the function of platelets ?
how can they affect coronary artery disease or ischemic heart disease ?
Okay, I’ll only focus on aspirin since it is the most common drug among NSAIDs that is used for Heart Problems
To begin with, aspirin is a platelet aggregation inhibitor; it prevents platelets from forming clots within the microvasculature of the cardiovascular system. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is when the coronary arteries lumen become more narrow due to arteriosclerosis (wall narrowing) or atherosclerosis (fat deposit). Aspirin prevents clots from sticking to the arterial endothelial wall thus making the blood less viscous.
hope this helps ^_^

Electrocardiography in Ischemic Heart Disease $149.95 The ECG is a fundamental diagnostic tool in cardiology, allowing accurate diagnosis and monitoring of acute and chronic ischemic heart disease. In this most comprehensive book of its kind, internationally renowned authors correlate electrocardiographic recordings with anatomical patterns of myocardial ischemia to improve the diagnosis and management of patients with ischemic heart disease. The book is structured in two sections. Part One covers electrocardiographic patterns of ischemia, injury and infarction. • Each chapter discusses a different ECG abnormality in turn, clearly explaining the ischemic insults and electrophysiological mechanisms underlying each pattern to promote rapid and accurate interpretation of the ECG in the clinical setting. • ECG abnormalities are correlated with myocardial anatomy and coronary angiography to produce a series of practical diagnostic algorithms that allow the clinician to identify not only the occluded artery but the precise location of the occlusion within the artery, facilitating appropriate therapeutic decisions. • The authors also propose a new classification of Q-wave myocardial infarctions based on imaging correlations with advanced techniques such as contrast-enhanced cardiac magnetic resonance. Part Two of the book covers the ECG in clinical practice. Each chapter focuses on a different clinical syndrome, describing the role of the ECG in a global approach to the diagnosis, prognosis and risk stratification of patients with acute and chronic ischemic heart disease and guiding clinical decision-making. Extensively referenced and illustrated throughout, this book is highly recommended for any clinician involved in the diagnosis and management of ischemic heart disease. |

Interventional Treatment of Advanced Ischemic Heart Disease $209 Advanced ischemic heart disease is fast becoming one of the most challenging problems facing the modern cardiovascular physician and current established therapies often fail to adequately address this population of patients. As therapy of heart disease evolves, we need to address the challenging questions posed by this clinical problem. "Treatment of Advanced Ischemic Heart Disease" brings together the most recent advances in surgical techniques, protection of the heart and postoperative care, to aid the study and treatment of these patients who deserve the best that modern medicine can provide them. The diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease and heart failure has now been standardized to the point that there are very well established guidelines promoted by the American Heart Association and The American College of Cardiology. This text will pick up where the guidelines leave off and address the real challenge of patients with advanced ischemic heart disease. Though therapy is clearly challenging, new advances are making effective therapy of these patients truly possible. This text embodies that notion. Finally, there is much still to learn about the basic mechanisms of the progression of heart failure due to coronary artery disease and how best to assess these therapeutic options. The text will address these with a focus on treatment so that it may be a practical reference for the practicing clinician as well as the basic or clinical researcher and student. |

The Official Patient’s Sourcebook on Coronary Artery Disease $28.95 This book has been created for patients who have decided to make education and research an integral part of the treatment process. Although it also gives information useful to doctors, caregivers and other health professionals, it tells patients where and how to look for information covering virtually all topics related to coronary artery disease (also coronary arteriosclerosis; coronary artery diseases; coronary disease; coronary heart disease), from the essentials to the most advanced areas of research. The title of this book includes the word official. This reflects the fact that the sourcebook draws from public, academic, government, and peer-reviewed research. Selected readings from various agencies are reproduced to give you some of the latest official information available to date on coronary artery disease. Given patients’ increasing sophistication in using the Internet, abundant references to reliable Internet-based resources are provided throughout this sourcebook. Where possible, guidance is provided on how to obtain free-of-charge, primary research results as well as more detailed information via the Internet. E-book and electronic versions of this sourcebook are fully interactive with each of the Internet sites mentioned (clicking on a hyperlink automatically opens your browser to the site indicated). Topics in Arrhythmias and Ischemic Heart Disease $125 Topics in Arrhythmias and Ischemic Heart Disease Emerging Concepts in Cardiology Series Edited by Bruce B. Lerman, MD, Chief, Division of Cardiology, Weill Cornell Medical College and Craig T. Basson, MD, PhD, Director of Cardiovascular Research, Weill Cornell Medical College Ischemic heart disease and cardiac arrhythmic disorders are among the most commonly seen and complex problems for the cardiologist. State of the art management of these disorders by the cardiology clinician demands a current knowledge of a vast amount of translational research in the pathophysiology of these disorders as well as recent advances and issues in pharmacologic and interventional therapies. This volume provides expert reviews and assessment of the most recent clinical research and on current trends in management. Key topics covered include the risk stratification of sudden cardiac death; the fast-evolving role of PCI; predictors of outcomes in chronic ischemic heart disease; catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation; and percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease; and numerous others. Reviews include assessment of emerging data and indications of likely key advances with significant impact on clinical practice in the near future. This volume is a must-have for every cardiologist needing to be fully current on recent advances in ischemic heart disease and arrhythmic disorders. |
