Myocardial Infarction Diet
Diet plans for patients with heart attack issues
A healthy heart is nowadays a boon which is not granted for many people. Several people both young as wells the middle aged are these days’ victims of heart attack. Heart attack generally occurs in those persons whose heart condition is affected by stiffened arteries, hypertension and by those diseases that weaken heart muscle. Patients attacked by the myocardial infarction or heart failure generally exhibit swelling, shortness of breath and also pain in their chest portion. Much is written about the heart failure(In French insuffisance cardiaque) and it is high time we know about the simple preventive measures and dietary options available for those affected by the failure of heart. Nutritional intervention is proven to have good impact to cure Heart Problems. This does not mean that drugs are of no use but if a keen eye is kept with regards to intake of all requisite vitamins and minerals in the diet then that would prevent cardiac arrest in a person.
The minerals like Magnesium, Calcium are indeed vital for normal heart functions in a body. The Magnesium mineral is found in figs, green vegetables, whole grains, almonds and Pinto beans.” The synthesis of nucleic acids and nuclear materials require the ionized Mg++Most of the body’s biochemical reactions depends upon this mineral only “says Melvyn Workbench , M.D. Intake of supplements like magnesium orate or magnesium aspirate are good for heart and they are known to enter into the cardiac muscles .A regular serum magnesium check up can be done to know the amount of magnesium in the heart and one can note that not many doctors would emphasize this test. However if this test is taken then the person can be sure to prevent him/herself from unexpected cardiac arrests Another important mineral is the Potassium which when found in inappropriate levels causes the cardiac problems like erratic heart beats, heart attack (In French attaque cardiaque)..Brazil nuts, almond nuts and legumes are excellent sources of potassium. An easy and nontechnical way of increasing its input in body is to take in lots of juicy fruits and vegetables. The Ta urine, L-Argentine , Creative are all proven to improve the cardiac “endurance, regular heart beat”. Selenium and Vitamin E are probably the last but most important ones to be playing a vital role for a regular heart function in a body.
“I have had patients with such severe CHF that they were waiting for a heart transplant. After taking CoQ10, they no longer needed a transplant.” Jullian Whitaker, M.D. (Health & Healing, December 1997. http://www.drwhitaker.com)
The intake of this Co Enzyme Q 10 has saved many patients from the heart transplants and it has got not any negative aspects or contradictions. The only thing is that it is very expensive but instead of a heart transplant it is wise to opt for intake of this ideal drug.
The above said points could have made one know that there are effective measures to prevent heart failure and it is high time one changes the dietary intake and include the above mentioned minerals in the foods he/she takes in as it would effectively cure as well as prevent the dreaded heart failure.

Prevention of Myocardial Infarction by Manson, JoAnn E. Ridker, Paul M. Gaziano, J. Michael Hennekens, Charles H. Edition ILL, 0 $13.49 Coronary heart disease remains the leading cause of death in both men and women in most industrialized countries. Yet it is largely preventable, and health care providers can acquire the skills to help their patients reduce their risks substantially. Traditional risk factors such as cigarette smoking, hypercholesterolimia, hypertension, sedentary lifestyle, obesity and glucose intolerance explain a major proportion of coronary events. Recent evidence also suggests important adjunctive roles for hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women, and aspirin prophlaxis in individuals at high risk of a first myocardial infarction. Emerging evidence indicates an important role for diet in the prevention of heart disease. Although the importance of lifestyle and behavioral modifications may well be known among physicians and other health-care providers, the implementation of this knowledge has been limited. One reason is that the information supporting the value, feasibility and cost-effectiveness of risk-reduction strategies has not been previously synthesized and made widely available to health-care providers in office and community settings. Prevention of Myocardial Infarction fills these critical gaps by providing a state-of-the-art compendium of the scientific evidence on the efficacy of coronary disease prevention, while focusing on helping clinicians develop intervention skills to utilize available knowledge. Chapters by leading authorities in cardiovascular epidemiology, clinical cardiology, cost-effectiveness analysis, and public health translate the theory of preventive cardiology into feasible implementation. The counseling and other intervention strategies described in this textbook have documented clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness, and they require little time to learn or implement. The book is written mainly for primary care providers, including general internists and family physicians, but will also be of interest to medical subspecialties such as cardiologists and endocrinologists, as well as medical students, dietitians, psychologists, epidemiologists, and students, practitioners, and researchers in public health. |

Primary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction by Tcheng, James E. Edition ILL, 2 $29.49 The emergency treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI)-one of the leading causes of death throughout the world-with immediate cardiac cathterization and percutaneous coronary intervention, or primary angioplasty, is now considered the optimal approach to this deadly disorder. In Primary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction, Second Edition, leading investigators and experienced clinicians collect and summarize the world’s literature and augment this with practical wisdom concerning this critically important form of care. Technical, professional, and administrative aspects are reviewed in clear detail. Among the topics covered are the technique and technology of direct angioplasty, patient selection, regulatory issues, performance metrics, clinical trials and outcomes, adjunctive pharmacology, economics, and implications for the health care system. The practicing cardiologist will appreciate the many useful how-to tips and pointers; the cardiology fellow will value the a-to-z approach that addresses all critical issues; and the administrator will learn the details of creating, maintaining, evaluating, and justifying a successful program.Comprehensive and highly practical Primary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction, Second Edition summarizes for today's cardiologists, internists, family practitioners, and emergency room physicians all the accumulated knowledge and experience needed to ensure that primary angioplasty becomes the standard of care for acute myocardial infarctions. |
