Unstable Angina Pectoris
Angina Pectoris Symptoms
Angina Pectoris Is the pain that is caused in the heart due to insufficient oxygen in the blood flowing to the muscles. There are two kinds of angina pectoris, stable and unstable angina pectoris. The former is caused when the supply of oxygen is inadequate during stressful activities. The latter kind is caused by an inadequate supply at any time.
Some common symptoms of angina pectoris are listed below:
A constricting ache around the region of the heart. The pain is relieved by rest when it occurs due to stable angina pectoris.
A sense of pressure, fullness and squeezing in the chest.
An extreme anxiety may be also felt.
The pain from the chest may move to other parts of the body including the neck, throat, arms and back.
Giddiness, nausea and vomiting
Profuse sweating
Difficulty in breathing normally
Rapid increase or irregular heart beats
Loss in the skin’s pallor
The symptoms felt during an attack of angina pectoris are similar to a cardiac arrest. However these symptoms go away within fifteen minutes after getting sufficient rest. In case an individual feels these symptoms the first time, he/she should call their physician. If the pain gets more severe or the discomfort increases, calling an ambulance is advised.
To diagnose angina pectoris, the physician will require the patients to undergo an ECG. This is used to measure the heart rate during a period of rest and during an exerting physical activity. The doctors usually prescribe drugs that should cure the angina pectoris symptoms. If the medications do not help, then an X-Ray may be needed to see the amount of narrowing seen in the arteries.
To treat the angina pectoris symptoms, individuals should cut smoking, reduce cholesterol foods, increase physical activity, ensure that blood pressure is normal and control their weight. For women who are using the Pill should try another contraceptive method to overcome these symptoms.
