How do you ease tightness of the chest?

My mother was recently involved in a bicycle accident that resulted in her elbow, arm and legs to be abrased to the point where her bone could be seen through the blood. After being rushed to the ER, she is busy recuperating, nevertheless, about two days after the accident, shes begun to complain of a tightness to the chest.
The doctor claims it to be muscle tension or perhaps something twisted during the accident, but the only thing he has prescribed is not straining it too much.
My mother still works and I can tell movement constantly pains her- is there anything else she/I can do?

Have her rub Aspercreme or Sports Cream on her chest and take Advil, Nuprin, or Motrin for the pain. They are anti-inflammatory and will help the pain better than Tylenol for a while. The creams will also help ease the pain. Hot showers turned toward the water will help the pain. I have Fibromyalgia and these are the things I do instead of taking meds. I have 17 out of 18 trigger points so it gets pretty bad sometimes. A lot of people I know like to use the creams that get hot like icy hot but I don’t like them they tend to burn my skin too much and these others work good for me.
